DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time faculty tenure track position. The instructor will teach and develop a variety of telecom-related courses, develop training opportunities, establish relationships with regional industry partners, recruit students, and assess student learning. Courses taught may include technical math, safety, electronics, cable splicing and maintenance, fiber splicing and troubleshooting, business and residential installation and repair, key systems, structured cabling, OSP construction (buried and aerial), working aloft (including pole climbing), and other telecom subjects as needed. Current site assignment is Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, IL.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires an extensive telecommunications OSP background with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field or an Associate in Applied Science or higher with fewer years’ field experience. Desired skills include competency in OSP trouble shooting, PBX/HPBX, equipment operation, fiber optics, math applications, communications, central office switching, IP telephony, and computer literacy. Successful candidates will work flexible schedules, work overload hours when necessary, and use good communication skills. Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
