Legislative summary for Feb. 19-21. Both the House and Senate were in session.

HR 57 and SJR 1, both addressing robocalls and spoofing were adopted in Committee hearings. No other telecom or broadband measures were acted upon.

The Bill Introduction Deadline for the House and Senate was Friday, Feb. 15.

3,717 bills were introduced in the House and 2,153 bills were introduced in the Senate.

Gov. Pritzker delivered the Budget address Wednesday, Feb. 20 – The Gov. cited a $3.2 billion deficit for the upcoming fiscal year, outlined proposals to increase revenue by $1.1 billion and laid out his priorities for increased spending, primarily in the areas of education, human services and public safety.

Pritzker said that Illinois needs to continue to grow its position as a top-tier startup and technology ecosystem. He also said the state needs to be prepared to make a big investment in transportation and infrastructure with the passage of a Capital Bill that would be introduced this session. And the Governor called on downstate republicans and democrats to work with him on a Downstate Revitalization Plan to encourage the creation of new businesses and jobs.
